A troublemaker who caused chaos across Maidstone has been slapped with a town centre ban. Robert McCann, 51, was caught on the wrong side of the law after smashing 13 breaches of his Community Protection Notice.

Arrested for Breaking Court Orders

McCann was nabbed on Friday 14 November in Bishops Terrace, accused of ignoring an exclusion zone and carrying alcohol where he shouldn’t. After being bailed, he brazenly broke his bail conditions days later and was hauled back before the courts.

The Medway Magistrates’ Court didn’t hang about, remanding McCann straight away on 21 November. Officers pushed for a two-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) — and won.

Strict Restrictions to Tackle Anti-Social Chaos

The new court order bans McCann from the High Street and Mill Street areas. He also cannot carry open alcohol containers, enter shops where he’s banned, or storm back into stores after being kicked out.

Police Warn of Swift Action if Rule-Breaking Continues

“This man has been responsible for persistent anti-social behaviour in the public spaces of Maidstone,” said Inspector James Ross. “He’s caused considerable disruption to local businesses and residents.”

“After ignoring previous warnings, officers have successfully secured a court order. If McCann breaks it again, he’ll be arrested and could face a fine or even jail.”
