A 22-year-old man from Toxteth has been locked up for three years and four months after a string of attacks on women in Liverpool.

Samuel Gebru’s Night of Terror in Aigburth

Samuel Gebru pleaded guilty to sexual assault and common assault offences committed against two women on the same night in July. The incidents happened around Aigburth Road and Lark Lane.

At 10.35pm on 28 July, a woman in her 20s spotted Gebru following her on Aigburth Road. He trailed her up Lark Lane and grabbed her arm near Sefton Grove. Two passersby from the Albert pub scared him off.

Second Assault Hours Later

Just past midnight on 29 July, Gebru attacked another woman in her 20s in the same area. He followed her, then sexually assaulted her on the street before fleeing when residents raised the alarm.

Police arrested Gebru early on 30 July. He was already in custody for the second assault when the first offence was reported. An extensive probe, including CCTV and forensic evidence, linked him to both attacks.

Justice Served at Liverpool Crown Court

Gebru faced Liverpool Crown Court on Monday, 8 December, where he was sentenced. The case highlights ongoing concerns over women’s safety in the city.
