Fatal Fire Rocks Castleview Park
A devastating house fire in Edenderry, Co Offaly, has claimed the lives of a young boy and a woman in her 60s. Emergency services rushed to the scene on Saturday around 7.45pm but the blaze proved deadly.
Serious Injuries and Ongoing Investigation
Another woman, in her 50s, was seriously injured in the fire and has been hospitalised in the Midlands. Local Gardaí confirmed the fatalities and said that forensic teams are currently examining the scene to determine the cause.
“An Garda Síochána can confirm two fatalities as a result of this house fire. A female, aged 60 years, and a young boy were fatally injured. A second female, aged in her 50s, is receiving treatment for serious injuries at a hospital in the Midlands,” a spokesperson said Sunday morning.
Authorities Appeal for Witnesses
The fire was extinguished by the local fire service, but the tragedy has left the community shaken. Police in Tullamore are investigating and have urged anyone with information to come forward as post-mortem examinations are arranged.
