A man has died following a serious collision on a busy road in south-east London. The fatal crash happened early this morning on Old Kent Road, Bermondsey.

Emergency Crews Rush to the Scene

The London Ambulance Service was called at just before 7am on November 21. Paramedics arrived within five minutes but despite frantic efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“We sent an ambulance crew, paramedics in fast response cars and an incident response officer to the scene. We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance. Sadly despite attempts to save his life, a man died at the scene,” a London Ambulance Service spokesperson said.

Police and forensic teams quickly put up a large cordon to investigate the crash. Old Kent Road remains closed in both directions between Dunton Road, Mandela Way, and Mina Road.

Traffic Chaos as Road Remains Shut

  • Heavy traffic reported with queues stretching back to Peckham Park Road and Elephant & Castle.
  • Delays on Albany Road due to diverted traffic from the closure.
  • TfL urges motorists to find alternate routes and expect long delays across the area.

Ongoing Investigation Underway

The Metropolitan Police have been contacted for further details. Meanwhile, forensic officers continue their examination of the crash site as the community reels from the tragedy.
