Tragedy struck in Stafford this morning as two young children were found dead in a house on Corporation Street. Police have identified the victims as Meraj Ul Zahra, 2, and Abdul Momin Alfaateh, 3.
Horrific Scenes in Quiet Stafford Street
The children were discovered unresponsive at 7.30am, sparking shock and grief in the neighbourhood. Terraced houses opposite St George’s mental health hospital remain cordoned off while forensic teams comb the scene.
Neighbours expressed disbelief and sorrow:
- “I woke up to this news and it sent a chill down my spine. It’s a terrible shock, just horrible,” one said.
- “The first we knew something was wrong was the sirens. Later, I saw the older child being taken away in a police car. The father was too distraught to carry him; the police helped.”
Emergency Services Response
West Midlands Ambulance Service dispatched two ambulances and paramedics to the scene. Unfortunately, both children were pronounced dead at the property.
