Abuser Jailed After Years of Torment
TJ Bunn, 32, has been locked up for nearly five years after a woman bravely exposed years of horrific domestic abuse. The Leeds Crown Court sentenced Bunn to four years and 11 months last Friday (5/12) after he pleaded guilty to harassment causing fear of violence, two counts of intentional strangulation, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The offences spanned a terrifying three-year relationship, with the victim finally reporting Bunn’s sickening behaviour after he was imprisoned for unrelated crimes.
‘Dangerous Offender’ Slapped with Restraining Order
Bunn was hauled from prison and charged in May, eventually pleading guilty in October. The judge labelled him “dangerous” and slapped an indefinite restraining order on him, ensuring he can no longer contact his victim.
Police Praise Victim’s Courage
“The victim showed great strength and bravery to report Bunn’s offending,” said Detective Sergeant Rebecca Westerman.
“I hope the sentence he has received today will be of some comfort to her and give her some closure.”
“I also hope it will encourage other victims of controlling and coercive behaviour to come forward so offenders can be brought to justice.”
This case shines a spotlight on the importance of speaking out. Thanks to one woman’s courage, a dangerous abuser is off the streets for good.
