A 25-year-old man has appeared in court following the violent riots that erupted in Hull city centre on Saturday.

The unrest on Saturday saw police officers attacked, cars damaged, shops looted, and fires started. The trouble flared in the city centre following demonstrations by anti-immigration protesters.

On Sunday, Humberside Police confirmed that 25 people had been arrested in connection with the disorder, and 11 officers were injured during the disturbances.

A police spokesperson said, “Our priority remains the safety of the public and our officers. We will continue to investigate the incidents and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

The city is now focusing on recovering from the weekend’s chaos, with local authorities and businesses assessing the damage and beginning the cleanup process
