Two Derbyshire Cops Face Court Over Shocking On-Duty Sex Scandals
Ex-Officer Nabbed for 13 Counts of Misconduct
Derbyshire Police’s Counter Corruption Unit is bringing a former officer to justice over multiple sexual misconduct charges. Daniel Nash, once a police constable, faces 13 counts of misconduct in public office. The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) launched an investigation after Derbyshire Police reported concerns in August 2020.
Nash allegedly pursued sexual relationships with several women while on duty from January 2015 until he resigned in December 2020.
Serving Officer Charged for On-Duty Affair
Meanwhile, serving officer Matthew Longmate, 46, is also in hot water. Following a November 2021 referral to the IOPC, Longmate was charged with one count of misconduct in public office. He reportedly had sex with a woman while on duty in October 2015.
Longmate is currently suspended from the force pending the investigation.
Court Date Set for Both Cops
After thorough probes, the IOPC handed the cases to the Crown Prosecution Service, which authorised the charges. Both Nash and Longmate are due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on September 20, 2022.
