Officers carried out a warrant at an address in Colchester on 29 September and recovered a number of items of stolen property.
A 42 year-old man was arrested the following day.
Greg Atkins, of Riparian Square, Colchester was later charged with five counts of burglary.
The charges relate to reported incidents between March and August this year.
He appeared at Southend Magistrates’ Court on 1 October and is next due to appear at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on 29 October.
