Hit-and-run horror on Farnham Bypass caught by off-duty cops
Last year, on Saturday 5 June, a 22-year-old woman was struck by a car near the A31 Farnham Bypass. The driver sped off without stopping, leaving her seriously injured.
Hero cop and paramedic jump into action
Off-duty Superintendent Adam Smith spotted the crash while driving home. Alongside off-duty paramedic Jen, they rushed to save the woman’s life. Adam used his belt as a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. Despite their efforts, the young woman lost a leg.
Speeding BMW linked to crash
Police launched a full probe and zeroed in on a Blue BMW spotted near the scene overnight. The car belonged to 30-year-old Marsden and was found at a Farnham address. Cops noted a cracked front bumper and a missing wing mirror.
Drunk driver’s brazen excuse
When questioned, Marsden claimed he hit an animal and blamed foggy conditions. But toxicology tests revealed he was heavily intoxicated. He had guzzled around eleven drinks at a ‘bottomless brunch’ in Guildford, then downed fifteen more shots and two pints at bars in Aldershot before driving.
Evidence mounts against Marsden
Phone records showed that the day after the crash, Marsden checked Surrey Police’s witness appeals and messaged friends about the incident — a suspicious move that sealed his fate.
