A second suspect has been charged by detectives investigating an attempted robbery in Maidstone – UKNIP

At around 7pm on Thursday 30 March 2023, a man walking in Knightrider Street was approached by two men he did not know.

It is alleged the victim was then assaulted as he reached the junction with Lower Stone Street, and some keys were stolen from his pocket. 

Police alerted

The victim was able to recover his keys before reporting the incident to the police.

Patrols immediately attended the area where they located and arrested one of the suspects.

A second man was arrested on 6 April and later bailed, pending further investigation. 

Charges

On 27 July, Dean Haylett, of Milton Street, Maidstone was charged by investigators from Kent Police with attempted robbery.

The 31-year-old was conditionally bailed to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on 14 September.

Ronnie Stokoe, aged 41, of Cambridge Crescent, Maidstone was previously charged on Saturday 1 April with the same offence. He is currently conditionally bailed to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on 20 November.
