Key theft drama on Knightrider Street ends with arrests
Just after 7pm on Thursday 30 March 2023, a man walking along Knightrider Street was suddenly confronted by two strangers. The victim was assaulted near the junction with Lower Stone Street, during which some keys were stolen from his pocket.
Quick Police Response Nabs Suspect
Thankfully, the victim managed to recover his keys before ringing the police. Officers were swiftly dispatched to the scene, where they arrested one of the suspects on the spot.
The second man was tracked down and arrested days later on 6 April. He has since been bailed as investigations continue.
Robbery Charges Filed
On 27 July, Dean Haylett, 31, from Milton Street, Maidstone, was charged with attempted robbery by kent-police/" title="Kent Police" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Kent Police. He has been conditionally bailed to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on 14 September.
Ronnie Stokoe, 41, of Cambridge Crescent, Maidstone, faced the same charge on 1 April. He is currently on conditional bail and due at Maidstone Crown Court for a hearing on 20 November.
