PC Farhan Ghadiali Convicted After Essex Investigation
Police Constable Farhan Ghadiali, attached to the Central West Command, was found guilty of sexual assault on Friday, 24 March, following a trial at Chelmsford Crown Court. The conviction comes after an extensive investigation by Essex Police.
Shocking Betrayal of Public Trust
Detective Chief Superintendent Sean Wilson of the Area West Command Unit slammed the officer’s actions. He said: “PC Ghadiali has been found guilty of an extremely serious offence made even worse by the fact he is a serving police officer; someone who should be protecting the public from harm. PC Ghadiali had betrayed the oath he made when he became a police officer, his actions are shocking and appalling. We are determined to prove to the public they can trust the Metropolitan Police, and our officers will be made to account for their actions if they fail to abide by our standards.”
The Crime and Court Drama
- The offence allegedly occurred while PC Ghadiali was off duty on 22 September 2019 at a party in Buckhurst Hill, Essex.
- He faced initial trial in May 2022 at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court, which ended with a hung jury.
- The case was then escalated to Chelmsford Crown Court where he was finally convicted.
Suspended and Facing Misconduct Hearing
Following his arrest, the Metropolitan Police’s Directorate of Professional Standards was notified. PC Ghadiali was suspended from duty. Now that the criminal case is closed, a misconduct hearing will take place to decide his future in the force.
