On Sunday, 29 January 2023, Kent Police were contacted, and it was reported that a woman had been sexually assaulted in a vehicle in the town’s New Street area at around 4.10 a.m. that morning.

The following day, a man was arrested following an investigation by the East Kent Vulnerability Investigation Team and the Dover Community Safety Unit.
