An 18-year-old from Birmingham has been sentenced to five years in a Youth Offenders Institution after a series of savage attacks in the city centre left one victim with life-changing injuries.
Callum Bennett’s Violent Spree
Callum Bennett’s brutal assaults span from New Year’s Day to late February this year. First, he punched a man in a Broad Street bar, breaking his jaw without any warning. Then, just weeks later on January 25, Bennett struck another man multiple times in the head after following him away from the same bar.
Final Attack Leaves Victim Hospitalised
In the most severe assault on February 23, Bennett followed a man towards a hotel and sucker-punched him from behind, knocking him to the ground. The victim was rushed to hospital with injuries that have now changed his life forever.
Police Crack Down and Court Justice
West Midlands Police launched a swift investigation, quickly linking Bennett to all three attacks. He was arrested, charged, and admitted the offences. On Friday, Birmingham Crown Court handed him a hefty five-year sentence behind bars.
“Bennett’s violent, unprovoked attacks have had a devastating impact on the victims,” a police spokesperson said. “This sentence sends a strong message that such behaviour will not be tolerated in our city.”
