Birmingham Teen Jailed for Brutal City Centre Attacks
An 18-year-old Birmingham man has been slammed with a five-year sentence after a terrifying string of violent assaults left one victim with life-changing injuries.
Callum Bennett’s Savage Spree
Callum Bennett unleashed a wave of violence from New Year’s Day through to late February. It kicked off when he punched a man out of the blue in a Broad Street bar, breaking his jaw.
Just weeks later, on January 25, Bennett followed another man from the same bar and repeatedly pummeled him in the head.
Final Attack Leaves Victim Seriously Injured
The worst came on February 23. Bennett sneaked up behind a man near a hotel and sucker-punched him, sending the victim crashing to the ground. The man was rushed to hospital with injuries that have changed his life forever.
Police Act Fast, Court Delivers Justice
West Midlands Police swiftly pieced together Bennett’s violent trail. They arrested and charged him, with Bennett admitting the horrific attacks.
Last Friday, Birmingham Crown Court knocked him down with a hefty five-year stretch in a Youth Offenders Institution.
“Bennett’s violent, unprovoked attacks have had a devastating impact on the victims,” a police spokesperson said. “This sentence sends a strong message that such behaviour will not be tolerated in our city.”
