Couple appear at Portsmouth Court to Answer Murder and Neglect Charges
Two people have appeared before Magistrates in Portsmouth today. The couple face charges following the death of a nineteen-day-old baby in Portsmouth. The Mother, 42-year-old Nicola Long of Agincourt Road in Portsmouth, stood in the dock dressed in a black and white dress. She wept crocodile tears throughout the appearance. She faces one charge of murder and a second of causing or allowing a child to suffer serious physical harm . No application for bail was made by Solicitors acting on her behalf. She has been remanded in custody to appear at Winchester Court on Thursday June 16. Longterm Partner, 43 year-old Jason Brown, also of Agincourt Road stood in the dock after answering bail dressed blue jacket and a T-shirt and also weeping. He faced one charge of causing or allowing a child to suffer serious physical harm. His case has been also been sent to the Crown Court at Winchester. No plea was entered and his bailed was extended. Both will appear now appear on Thursday June 16th at Winchester Crown court for a date to be set down for the trial.
