Driver Seriously Injured After Police Pursuit Ends in Crash in Kent

A man has been left seriously injured following a crash that occurred after a police pursuit in Riverhead, near Sevenoaks, Kent.

Kent Police confirmed that the collision, involving a silver Ford Fiesta and a black Land Rover Defender, took place at approximately 8:30pm on Saturday, 19 April, on Westerham Road near the junction with Larkfield Road.

The driver of the Fiesta, a man in his 20s, sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to a hospital in London, where he remains under medical care.

According to a statement from the force, “Prior to this collision, the silver Ford Fiesta was involved in a pursuit involving Kent Police officers,” prompting a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC). The referral is standard procedure in incidents involving serious injury following police contact.

The road was closed in both directions for several hours while forensic teams carried out investigations at the scene.
