Elderly Pedestrians Injured in Copthorne Van Collision

Police are appealing for witnesses after two pedestrians were seriously injured in a collision in Copthorne. The incident occurred around 9:55 am on Saturday, 18 May, near Francis Court Care Home on Copthorne Bank.

A grey Vauxhall Vivaro van, traveling southbound on a right-hand bend, struck the pedestrians – a 77-year-old local man and a 68-year-old local woman. Both were taken to the hospital for treatment and are currently in stable condition. The driver of the van, an 80-year-old man from Horley in Surrey, was uninjured.

An investigation is underway, and police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or has CCTV or dash cam footage to email [email protected] quoting Operation Wicker.

Officers are particularly interested in hearing from anyone with CCTV covering Copthorne Bank north of the allotments or Redehall Road south of Smallfield village.
