Teen Tragedy: Eden Bunn Dies as Car Plunges into River Nene
Police have named 16-year-old Eden Bunn as the tragic victim after a car crashed into the River Nene near Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. Eden was a rear-seat passenger in a blue VW Polo when it veered off the road around 8.20pm on Tuesday.
The Sutton Bridge teenager’s family paid a heartfelt tribute, describing her as the “kindest, most loving girl we could ever wish for.” Her parents Lisa and Dean, brother Jay, sister Shelby, and nephew Axl said: “Words cannot describe the tragedy that will stay with us until we can meet her again. Her horses – Daisy and Dolly – were her world, and she was ours.”
Driver Declan Berry Still Missing
Police are urgently searching for 18-year-old Declan Berry from Wisbech, believed to be behind the wheel. The Polo was carrying five people in total. While three escaped with minor injuries and were treated in hospital, two remain hospitalised—a 16-year-old girl and an 18-year-old boy.
Declan’s family expressed their heartbreak in a police statement, saying they are “absolutely devastated beyond words.”
Search Hampered by River Conditions
Detective Inspector Craig Wheeler of Cambridgeshire’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit warned the search could take time due to the “challenging nature of the river.” Divers recovered Eden’s body on Wednesday, but Declan is still missing.
Wheeler urged anyone with dashcam footage or information about the blue VW Polo in Wisbech between 7pm and 8.20pm on Tuesday to come forward. He said: “This is a truly devastating collision, for all involved. Our thoughts are with Eden and Declan’s friends and family during this horrific time.”
Police have stepped up patrols along the River Nene as the desperate search continues.
Witnesses Urged to Help Police Investigate
