Funeral Firm Faces Investigation Over Mismanagement of Human Remains and Funds

A funeral company, A. Milne Independent Funeral Directors, is currently under scrutiny by Police Scotland due to alleged mismanagement of both human remains and financial matters. The investigation centres around the storage and return of cremated remains, as well as allegations of financial misconduct. Families who entrusted their loved ones to the firm have expressed frustration, with one family reportedly waiting for three years to receive their relative’s ashes.

Early Stages of Investigation

Police Scotland has confirmed that the enquiries into A. Milne Independent Funeral Directors are in their early stages. The company, which operated branches in Glasgow and Dumbarton (located in West Dunbartonshire), is now the focus of forensic scrutiny. Forensic officers were observed at the Glasgow branch on Balornock Road last Friday.

Critical Error on Company Website

The company’s website is currently inaccessible, displaying a “critical error” message. This technical issue adds to the growing concerns surrounding A. Milne’s operations.

National Association of Funeral Directors Involvement

The National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD) has also taken notice. Numerous complaints regarding A. Milne prompted the NAFD to initiate a disciplinary process. A hearing is scheduled for May, during which the NAFD disciplinary committee will assess the situation. The ultimate sanction available to the committee is the removal of A. Milne from membership.
