Isle of Wight Police chase driver charged

A Ventnor man has been charged with theft, of a motor vehicle and failing to stop for Police. Islander Darren Rose 28, from Ventnor, has been charged with a string of other offences following a Police pursuit in Adgestone earlier today (Tuesday). Rose was detained and arrested by officers after failing to stop for Police in the stolen vehicle that he is understood to have stolen earlier in the day. The Ford Fiesta was driven through country lanes in Adgestone whilst being pursued by Police after Rose failed to pull over for Police. The disqualified driver has been refused bail and will appear before the Islands Magistrate court tomorrow facing TWOC, Making off from Police and a further charge of driving whilst disqualified and driving with no insurance. It was initially reported that Mr Rose had been charged with a 5th offence – wounding with intent – based on incorrect information given out by Hampshire Constabulary. This was incorrect – Mr Rose was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent, but not charged. He is to face no further action in regards to this arrest. The information published has been amended to reflect this.
