Man, 40, stabbed to death on Wimbledon high street named by police
A 35-year-old man has been charged with murder
The 40-year-old man stabbed to death in the centre of Wimbledon over the weekend has been named. Luke Brereton, from Mitcham, succumbed to his injuries on The Broadway shortly after 12.35am on Sunday, February 22.
Officers arrested a 35-year-old man in connection with the death later that same night, the Metropolitan Police said. Amar Zafar, of Cambridge Grove Road, Kingston, has since been charged with murder and possession of a bladed article.
He will appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court today (February 23). Detectives previously confirmed the fatal stabbing is being treated as an isolated incident and they are not seeking anyone else at this stage.
