Man Charged with Murder After Fatal Stabbing of Woman in Bradford

After the tragic incident which unfolded on Saturday afternoon when a young woman lost her life in a brutal stabbing while pushing her baby in a pram. The suspect, Habibur Masum, has been charged with murder and possession of a bladed weapon. The victim, identified as Kulsuma Akter, was just 27 years old.

The Incident

Ms. Akter was out getting food to break her Ramadan fast when she was attacked. Despite being rushed to the hospital, she succumbed to her injuries. Heart-wrenching video footage from the scene captured the moment: Ms. Akter’s baby remained in the pram, cared for by police officers and her mother’s friends.

Arrest and Investigation

Masum, 25, was apprehended 150 miles away in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, on Tuesday morning. Authorities have been conducting extensive investigations, including raids in Burnley, Oldham, and Chester. Four other men, aged 23, 26, 28, and 29, were arrested in Aylesbury on suspicion of assisting an offender and drug-related offences. These individuals remain in custody.

Legal Proceedings

Masum is scheduled to appear at Bradford Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, where he will face charges related to the murder and possession of a bladed article. Meanwhile, a 23-year-old man arrested in the Cheshire area, also suspected of assisting an offender, has been released on bail.
