A man has been found guilty of murder in connection with a fatal shooting that claimed the life of Andre Salmon, 18, in Tottenham last summer.

Reagan Konin, 19, of Victoria Road, N15, was convicted of murder following a trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Tuesday, 5 March. The court heard that Konin fatally shot Salmon with a shotgun in Constable Crescent, N15, on July 3, 2023.

Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellams, who led the investigation, emphasized the tragic loss of life and the devastating impact on Salmon’s family. Whellams stated, “Once again, a young man has lost his life in an act of violence, and another family is grieving.

Konin had claimed that the shotgun discharged accidentally, but the jury determined otherwise based on the evidence presented during the trial. Whellams highlighted the unanswered questions surrounding the incident and underscored the gravity of Konin’s actions.

The investigation into Salmon’s death commenced after police responded to reports of an injured man on Constable Crescent. Despite the efforts of emergency services, Salmon succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Detectives established that Salmon had been traveling on a moped when he was shot by a suspect on Stamford Road. He later collided with a parked car on Constable Crescent due to his injury.

CCTV footage identified Konin as a suspect, leading to a public appeal for information. Konin surrendered himself to police in Essex on July 8, 2023.

During questioning, Konin claimed that he was delivering a replica shotgun on behalf of a drug dealer and that the weapon discharged accidentally. However, officers and the prosecution disputed his account, alleging that Konin had pursued another man with a machete days before the shooting.

Konin, who had previously pleaded guilty to affray, will be sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Thursday, March 28.
