Man jailed after trying to have sex with 14-year-old in Cardiff park – then storms out of sentencing shouting ‘f**k your country’

Abdirahman Osman caught preying on schoolgirls in Roath Park

Abdirahman Osman, 44, sparked outrage after attempting to sexually assault a 14-year-old girl in a busy Cardiff park. The Roath resident approached a group of schoolgirls, calling them “sweeties” and claiming he wanted to be their boyfriend.

When the girls rejected him, Osman ignored them, asking their ages and even trying to hug one child. He then tried to lure a girl back to his home, falsely claiming he needed help. Once she was close, he asked her to perform a sexual act.

Victim escapes and police swoop – Osman denies everything

The girl ran back to her friends and the police were contacted immediately. When officers arrested Osman, he flat-out denied touching anyone. Despite his protests, he was found guilty of attempting to engage a child in sexual activity.

Storming out screaming abuse during sentencing

At his sentencing hearing, Osman joined via video link from custody. Furious at the judge’s decision, he suddenly shouted, “F**k your country!” before storming off camera and heading back to his cell.

“Since this incident I feel wary of people and scared of people who look like him,” the victim told the court. “I no longer go out alone and avoid Roath Park because it’s too distressing.”

Osman jailed and slapped on Sex Offenders’ Register

Judge Lucy Crowther sentenced Osman to two years behind bars. He also faces a 10-year stint on the Sex Offenders’ Register. Osman’s past is scarred with convictions for battery and robbery, painting a grim picture of a repeat offender preying on the vulnerable.
