Man re-bailed over Newport Valentines Murder

Police have re-bailed a 20-year-old, who was being questioned on suspicion of murder. The man was detained was following the death of Gary Stacey on Valentine day,after an assault in St James’ Street, Newport. The man, who answered his bail at Newport Police this morning has been bailed again until 1st June 2016 whilst enquiries continue. Two other men, aged 20 and 21, had previous arrested and released without charge. Anyone with information relating to this incident can contact police on 101 quoting Operation Smooth, or Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111. A Hampshire police spokeswoman said: “Police are continuing with to our investigation into the death of Gary Stacey, who died in hospital, after he was assaulted in St James’ Street, Newport, at 4am on Sunday 14th February.
