Man Re-Bailed Over Valentine’s Day Murder in Newport

A 20-year-old man has been re-bailed by police in connection with the murder of Gary Stacey on Valentine’s Day in Newport.

Back in Custody, Then Out on Bail Again

The man was initially detained following an assault on St James’ Street at around 4am on Sunday, 14th February. He appeared at Newport Magistrates’ Court this morning and has now been re-bailed until 1st June 2016 while enquiries continue.

Other Suspects Released Without Charge

Two other men, aged 20 and 21, were arrested earlier in the investigation but have since been released without charges.

Police Appeal for Information

A police spokesperson said:

“Police are continuing with our investigation into the death of Gary Stacey, who died in hospital following the assault in St James’ Street, Newport.”
