A former Wiltshire police officer with a sordid past has dodged jail yet again. Callum Denley, 21, from Malmesbury, was back in court after being caught downloading horrific child abuse images.
Ex-Officer’s Dark Past
- Denley was first convicted in May 2025 for child sex offences.
- He resigned and was permanently barred from policing.
- Initially sentenced to 10 months, suspended for 18 months, plus a ten-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
New Offences, Same Old Behaviour
Denley breached his SHPO within a month by hiding his mobile phone from officers. A forensic probe into the device uncovered 34 vile indecent images and videos of children. He admitted guilt at Swindon Crown Court.
Another Suspended Sentence
Despite the shocking new evidence, Denley was given a 14-month prison sentence – again suspended for two years. The court’s decision raises fresh concerns over sentencing in child abuse cases involving former officers.
Callum Denley’s case is a grim reminder that some predators lurk where we least expect.
