Shortly after 9 pm, a number of people, including youths, began throwing objects at police vehicles. A wheelie bin was also set alight but was swiftly extinguished by Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service.

To ensure the safety of local residents and businesses, a section of County Road has been closed while police manage the situation.

Section 60 Order

In response to the disorder, a Section 60 order has been implemented across Liverpool, granting officers additional powers to stop and search individuals suspected of carrying weapons or planning criminal activities. This order remains in effect until 8:40 pm on Sunday.

Official Statement

Assistant Chief Constable Alex Goss condemned the actions of those involved, stating:

“The people who have brought such aggression and destruction into the heart of our communities do not represent the people of Merseyside, and they certainly do not honuor the memory of those three young girls whose lives were taken so tragically on Monday.

“They have instead attacked and in many cases caused serious injury to police officers who come to work every day to protect the public. They have brought fear into residential streets, targeted local businesses providing a vital service to our communities, and damaged personal property and infrastructure in the city.

“This is disgraceful, and people who live, work, and visit Merseyside do not want it to continue, and we will not tolerate it.

“A number of those involved this evening were youths, and we are urging parents and guardians to make sure they know where their children are, to protect them and others from harm.

“If you have any information about this incident or if you know of anyone involved, I would urge you to contact us so we can bring those responsible to justice.”
