Police Hunt for Missing Body Parts After Shocking Croydon Dismemberment

Met Police are ramping up their search in Croydon for missing body parts linked to Sarah Mayhew’s grisly murder. Her remains were found scattered across Rowdowns Field in New Addington, sparking a major investigation.

Two Charged Over Sarah’s Murder and Unlawful Disposal

Gemma Watts, 48, from Featherbed Lane, appeared at the Old Bailey charged with Sarah’s murder and unlawful disposal of her body. Watts attended via video link from Bronzefield prison and mostly stayed silent, only confirming her name.

Her co-accused, Steven Samson, 44, of Burnell Road, Sutton, also faces murder and unlawful burial charges. Samson is hit with three additional counts related to indecent images, believed linked to the case. Both are set for a plea hearing on June 27, with trial tentatively scheduled for February 17, 2025.

Grim Details Emerge in Court

Prosecutor Tom Little KC revealed the horrific nature of the crime, describing how Sarah’s body was gruesomely dismembered before being dumped in the field. Despite the horrific case, Judge Ian Katz KC assured all legal procedures were properly observed during the hearing. Watts confirmed she understood the proceedings.

Met Police launched a thorough murder probe after finding the remains. Sarah’s family is being supported by specialist police liaison officers through this tragic ordeal.
