Cameron Fraser, a 28-year-old serving police officer, has been sentenced to a six-month community payback order after pleading guilty to indecent communications with a child after sending a half naked selfie in his police uniform to a boy via Snapchat. The sentencing took place on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court.
Fraser’s actions came to light during an investigation by Police Scotland. His online misconduct was deemed appalling by Chief Superintendent Helen Harrison of the Professional Standards Department. She emphasised that there is no hiding place for such offences, and Fraser will now face the consequences of his actions.
Child sexual abuse is a serious criminal offence, and authorities encourage anyone with concerns about a child at risk or a potential victim to contact the police immediately.
As criminal proceedings conclude, the Professional Standards Department will initiate proceedings for gross misconduct against Fraser.
