Knife-Wielding Suspect Held After Police Negotiation

Landlady Frieda Ehsan revealed her tenant called her to dial 999 once the armed man entered the shop.

“We responded to an incident on Stand Lane, Radcliffe around 2:15pm following reports of threats involving a bladed weapon. Those at the address managed to reach safety and called us. Our negotiators engaged with the suspect inside the property. A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of making threats with a bladed article and remains in custody for questioning. This was an isolated incident and we can confirm it is not being treated as counter-terror related.”

The local community was left shaken but relief is mounting as police wrap up the dramatic incident peacefully.
