Second Woman Charged With Stalking Madeleine McCann Family
A second woman has been hit with stalking charges over harassment targeting the family of missing tot Madeleine McCann, as Leicestershire Police’s investigation ramps up.
Karen Spragg Faces Stalking Charge
Karen Spragg, 60, from Caerau, Cardiff, was charged with one count of stalking causing serious alarm or distress. The alleged incidents occurred between May 3, 2024, and February 21, 2025.
She’s set to appear at LEICESTER" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Leicester Magistrates’ Court this Friday, police confirmed.
Another Suspect Due in Court
On the same day, 23-year-old Julia Wandel from Lubin, Poland, will face charges at Leicester Crown Court. Wandel is accused of four stalking counts aimed at Kate and Gerry McCann and their teenage children, Sean and Amelie.
The stalking campaign allegedly included:
- Showing up at the McCann home on May 2 and December 7, 2024
- Bombarding Kate and Gerry with letters, phone calls, voicemails, and WhatsApp messages
- Contacting Sean and Amelie on Instagram between January 3 and December 29, 2024
The offences allegedly ran from January 3, 2024, to February 15, 2025.
Investigation Continues
Leicestershire Police have not revealed if the two women are connected or whether more charges will follow. They stressed the probe into harassment targeting the McCanns is ongoing.
Kate and Gerry, whose daughter Madeleine vanished in Portugal in 2007, continue to face intense public scrutiny despite calls for privacy and respect from officials.
