Woman Charged With Murder After Fatal Attack In St Paul’s, Bristol

A 23-year-old sex offender from Peterborough has been sentenced to five months in prison for breaching a court order. Liam Copeman failed to inform the police that he was residing at a property in Downham Market, Norfolk, where a young child lived. This violated a sexual harm prevention order that was issued to him in February 2021 at Cambridge Crown Court.

Evidence collected from a video doorbell showed Copeman arriving at the property on the evening of 26 March at 9:29 pm. He did not leave until the following day at 11:51 am. The breach of the court order was confirmed when Copeman admitted to both breaching the sexual harm prevention order and failing to comply with the notification requirements of the Sex Offenders Register.

The sentencing took place at Peterborough Crown Court on 11 October. PC Lorraine Smart emphasised the seriousness of court orders, as they are designed to protect the public. The police will vigorously prosecute anyone found to be in breach of such orders. Protecting children in the county remains a top priority for law enforcement, and they will continue to work tirelessly to ensure their safety.

In light of this case, authorities are encouraging anyone who suspects that an individual may have been convicted of a sex offence and poses a potential risk to others to utilise Sarah’s Law. This resource allows concerned individuals to apply for disclosure information regarding sex offenders. By staying informed and working together, the community can play a crucial role in safeguarding against potential threats and protecting vulnerable individuals.
