Six people, including a teenage boy, have been jailed for life Overover what has been described as “A Meticulously Planned Killing” in the “planned and organised execution” of 21-year-old Janayo Lucima in Fulham.
Lucima was fatally shot when he opened the door of his home in Comeragh Road, Fulham, just after 10.15pm on April 1, 2024.
The group then fled, discarding knives later linked to them through forensic analysis. Some attempted to leave the UK but were tracked down and arrested by Met Police detectives.
Family’s Heartbreak
In a powerful victim impact statement, Janayo’s mother, Winifred Ayo, told the court:
“I miss my son and think about him all the time. I miss his hugs. I miss his smell. I miss his laughs. I miss his perfect smile.
Janayo was full of dreams. But he was heartlessly taken away from us by a group of self-centred young men, steeped in an urban sub-culture of violence.
The loss, pain and void they created in our hearts will never heal. No amount of sentence will bring Janayo back.”
Police Statement
Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie, from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, said that the evidence showed a meticulously planned killing unprecedented in its execution.
“This was not a random killing. The defendants planned their actions meticulously and came with murderous intent, armed not only with a handgun but also with knives.
They gave Janayo no chance to defend himself, executing him ruthlessly as he stepped out of the front door.
Our thoughts remain with Janayo’s family, who have shown immense dignity throughout this ordeal.”
