Swindon Man Banned from Driving After Failing Drugs Test
A Swindon man has landed himself in trouble after being caught drug-driving. Liam Harvey, 30, of Waggoner Close, Abbey Meads, was stopped by police on March 28, 2020, in Trowbridge Close. Officers suspected he was under the influence and a roadside drugs test came back positive for cocaine.
Drug Driving Guilty Verdict Lands 12-Month Ban
Despite pleading not guilty, Harvey was found guilty at Swindon Magistrates Court. He has been disqualified from driving for 12 months, fined £101, and ordered to pay £250 in Crown Prosecution Service costs plus £32 to Victim Services.
Police Slam Reckless Drug Driving
PC Luke Hobbs said: “Drug driving seriously increases your risk of being involved in a collision, putting both your life and the lives of other road users at risk.”
“It is so disappointing to see people continuing to take these risks. The Roads Policing Unit here at Wiltshire Police is committed to keeping our roads safe and we will do all that we can to target individuals who drive under the influence of drugs.”
The crackdown sends a clear message: drug-driving will not be tolerated on Wiltshire’s roads.
