Teenager jailed for dealing heroin and crack cocaine in Chatham

A teenage drug dealer has been jailed after being caught with more than a thousand pounds worth of heroin and crack cocaine in Chatham. Officers searched a home in the Thorold Road area in March this year while investigating an unrelated offence. Sadaq Omar, 19, of no fixed address, was found in one of the back rooms with dozens of ‘wraps’ of class A drugs. Upon further investigation, the teenager was also found to be in breach of a criminal behaviour order issued in Uxbridge preventing him from being in possession of a mobile phone and possessing drugs. He was jailed for three years and six months at Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday 26 May 2018 after pleading guilty to two counts of possessing class A drugs with intent to supply, and two counts of acting in beach of a criminal behaviour order. The drugs were seized and destroyed. Investigating officer Detective Constable Rob Hemsley said: ‘Drug dealers and the substances they sell are not welcome in Chatham or the rest of Kent, and officers will continue to pursue these individuals and ensure they are brought before the courts. ‘Dealers, like Omar, actively target and take advantage of vulnerable people, using them to make an illicit profit. Members of the public are often invaluable in helping us tackle this activity. If you suspect dealers are operating in your area please call us on 101.’
