The Repair Shop’s Jay Blades Charged with Two Counts of Rape

Overview

A police spokesperson said:

“Jason Blades, 55, of Claverley in Shropshire, has been charged with two counts of rape. He is due to appear at Telford Magistrates’ Court on 13 August 2025.”

The alleged offences are understood to be separate from an ongoing case where Mr Blades is also facing a charge of coercive and controlling behaviour towards his estranged wife, Lisa-Marie Zbozen.

Blades, who strongly denies the allegations, previously appeared at Worcester Crown Court in October 2024 where he pleaded not guilty to the coercive control charge. He is scheduled to attend a pre-trial review hearing at the same court on Tuesday, 6 August.

Awaiting Trial on Separate Charges

The rape charges come as Mr Blades continues to contest the coercive control allegations, which are alleged to have taken place during his marriage to Ms Zbozen. Legal proceedings for that case are ongoing, with a trial date yet to be confirmed.

Blades, who rose to fame for his work restoring sentimental family heirlooms on BBC’s The Repair Shop, has yet to release a public statement regarding the latest charges.

West Mercia Police Statement

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police added:

“As legal proceedings are active, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.”
