Two Charged Following Cannabis Cultivation Discovery in Lydd

Two men have been charged in connection with a significant cannabis cultivation operation uncovered in the Folkestone and Hythe district.

On the morning of Wednesday, 18 December 2024, Kent Police executed a warrant at an industrial unit on Dengemarsh Road, Lydd, following reports of suspected criminal activity.

Major Discovery

Officers discovered a large-scale cannabis cultivation operation within the unit. Over 2,000 cannabis plants were found, alongside a substantial quantity of harvested cannabis bud. Cultivation equipment, including fans and lighting, was also seized from the scene.

Arrests and Charges

Two men, identified as Thai Son Dang, 31, and Toan Ta, 32, both of no fixed address, were arrested at the scene.

They have been charged with being concerned in the production of cannabis.

Court Proceedings

Both men appeared at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on 19 December and were remanded in custody. The case is scheduled for its next hearing at Canterbury Crown Court on 20 January 2025.
