Hogmanay Horror: Marc Webley Gunned Down Outside Edinburgh Pub
Tragedy rocked Edinburgh’s Hogmanay celebrations as Marc Webley, 36, was shot dead outside the Anchor Inn. Webley, a man with a murky past, was partying with friends just before midnight when the fatal shooting happened. The community is left reeling as police hunt the gunman.
From Lottery Love to Gangland Violence
Webley had recently split from Jane Park, the UK’s youngest EuroMillions winner, who famously scooped £1 million aged 17. The couple ended their relationship last month. Park shared her heartbreak on Instagram, posting a touching tribute and revealing she had spoken to him just a day before his death.
“I can’t believe I’m writing this. We spoke yesterday. If I could cuddle you again and tell you everything is going to be OK, I would give anything to do it, Marc. The months we spent together, you taught me some valuable things in life, and I’ll never forget you. I am devastated. The best bed for you is up there, My Handsome.” – Jane Park
Known for gang ties and carrying weapons, Webley had warned friends he feared an attack. His older brother Don posted a photo of Marc on Facebook, suggesting trouble ahead. “Marc went the day he wanted, the way he wanted,” Don wrote, adding, “come and get it.” A gangland source warned, “There’s going to be wars in the city if Marc has been murdered.”
Feuds, Gunfire and Grim Aftermath
Another insider revealed Webley was caught in a feud with a notorious figure from south Edinburgh. Threats had been exchanged. Webley left the pub just before midnight, only to be shot in the neck and head outside his local. He died instantly. Another man was also shot and is now fighting for his life in hospital.
Police swiftly sealed off the scene. A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed, “Road closures are in place on Granton Road and Granton Crescent following an incident reported around 11.50pm on Sunday, December 31. Officers remain at the scene while enquiries continue.”
Criminal Past of a Troubled Man
Webley’s history includes serious convictions for attempted murder and gang violence. In 2006, he was sentenced to 11 years for a gangland-style ambush involving multiple gunshots from a motorbike. Despite this checkered past, his association with Jane Park had recently thrust him into the public eye.
Jane Park, meanwhile, moved from lottery riches to a humble lifestyle, gaining new fame on OnlyFans with her topless photo sales.
As police probe the brutal killing, Edinburgh faces a tense future with fears of gang reprisals looming large over the city’s streets.
