Got Guns? Surrender Them Now – No Prosecution!

From Thursday 12 May to Sunday 29 May 2022, Kent Police are running a two-and-a-half week firearm surrender. It’s your chance to hand in unwanted or illegal guns and ammo — including replica, antique, air weapons, BB guns, parts, and other ballistic items — safely and anonymously.

No Questions Asked: Stay Anonymous, Avoid Prosecution

Got an illegal gun lurking at home? Hand it in during the surrender period and you won’t face prosecution for illegal possession. Plus, you can stay anonymous if you prefer. It’s a hassle-free way to get rid of weapons that could otherwise wind up in the wrong hands.

Detective Chief Inspector Ian Dyball of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate said: “Many firearms are held in innocence and ignorance of their illegality, or are overlooked and forgotten in people’s homes. Some are held legally and are no longer required. Others are acquired and distributed by criminal networks to harm, threaten, and intimidate their local communities.

“This is a good opportunity for those individuals to dispose of them without fear of being prosecuted for illegal possession. In handing over a firearm to us, you are preventing it from getting into the wrong hands and you could be saving someone’s life.

“This is an excellent opportunity to remove potential harm to others and protect your community.”

Where to Drop Off Your Guns

Firearms can be handed in at the front counter of these police stations across Kent:

  • North Kent
  • Medway
  • Sittingbourne
  • Canterbury
  • Margate
  • Folkestone
  • maidstone/" title="Maidstone" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Maidstone
  • Tonbridge

Be sure to check station opening times on the Kent Police website before you visit.

If you can’t make it to a station, call 101 to arrange a collection.

Don’t Let Guns Endanger Your Community

This surrender is a vital effort to keep Kent safer. If you have unlicensed or unwanted firearms or ammunition, don’t risk lives—hand them in now. The clock is ticking!
