KFC Chaos in Haywards Heath: Man Arrested for Arson

Diners at the KFC on South Street, Haywards Heath, were forced to flee in panic on Monday night (March 10). Police swooped in after a suspicious incident sparked a major investigation.

Arson Suspect in Custody

A 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent. He’s also linked to two other arson attacks in Haywards Heath, dating back to November 3, 2023. To make matters worse, he faces charges for possession of a Class A drug. The suspect remains in police custody as enquiries continue.

KFC Evacuated – No Injuries

KFC confirmed all staff and customers were safely evacuated during the emergency.

“Our customers and team members were safely evacuated from our Haywards Heath restaurant last night,” a KFC spokesperson said. “We’re supporting the police with their enquiries and plan to reopen as soon as it’s safe to do so.”

Police Call for Witnesses

Sussex Police are appealing for anyone with information on the incident to come forward.
