Murder Probe Underway After Man Fatally Hit by Car in Blackburn
Detectives have launched a murder investigation after 37-year-old Kirk Marsden died in a shocking Christmas Day incident in Blackburn.
Tragic Crash Outside Popular Bar
Police rushed to The Gate Street Bar and Grill on the corner of Moorgate Street at 4:48 PM following reports of an altercation. During the chaos, Mr Marsden was struck by a silver Toyota Land Cruiser, suffering serious injuries. He was rushed to Royal Preston Hospital but sadly passed away in the early hours of Boxing Day.
Two Men Arrested Over Murder
- A 58-year-old man with no fixed address
- A 31-year-old man from Bolton
Both remain in custody as police continue their investigations. The Toyota Land Cruiser involved was recovered from a car park on Brindle Street, Blackburn.
Police Appeal for Crucial CCTV and Witnesses
Detective Chief Inspector Bryony Midgley of the Major Investigation Team urged locals to come forward.
“This incident has led to a man losing his life. Our thoughts remain with Kirk’s loved ones,” DCI Midgley said. “We are treating this as an isolated incident and making good progress with our enquiries. I would like to reassure the community that we have increased patrols in the area to provide reassurance.”

- Anyone who witnessed the altercation outside The Gate Street Bar and Grill or holds any mobile phone footage is urged to contact police.

The tragedy has rocked the local community, with police working hard to provide reassurance and catch those responsible.
