Gas Canister Thrown From Bridge Hits Lorry Driver

Shock as a gas canister smashed through a lorry’s windscreen and hit the driver in the face. The reckless attack happened around 7.30pm on Saturday, 10 December, from a footbridge leading to Coachman’s Lane.

Driver Miraculously Uninjured

Two people were spotted on the footbridge before the 30cm gas canister was hurled onto the southbound carriageway. It shattered the windscreen, striking the driver. Fortunately, the man avoided serious injury and managed to safely stop his vehicle.

Police Hunt Witnesses and Dashcam Footage

“This was an incredibly reckless act which could have resulted in serious injury or even worse to innocent motorists,” said Detective Sergeant Michael Ball from North Herts Local Crime Unit.

“Throwing any items from a height onto a moving carriageway is extremely dangerous.”

“I’m appealing to anyone who saw anything suspicious or driving near the bridge at the time and may have dashcam footage to come forward.”
