Man Stabbed to Death on Jutland Street in Early Morning Attack
Police were called just after 3 a.m. this morning (Friday, June 17) after a man was found with serious stab wounds on Jutland Street. The victim, Lee Dawson, 42, was rushed to Royal Preston Hospital but sadly died from his injuries.
Who Was Lee Dawson?
Lee, originally from Preston but living in Sunderland, was described by his family as a “large and friendly giant” with a “strong heart and head.” His close ones said he “loved his children deeply and would do anything for them.” Lee “lived life to the fullest” and will be “sorely missed” by all who knew him.
Police Launch Major Investigation, No Arrests Yet
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Haworth-Oates of Lancashire Police’s Major Investigation Team said:
“These are very sad and tragic circumstances. Our thoughts are with Lee’s loved ones at this difficult time. They have our full support and heartfelt sympathies.”
The detective added:
“Our investigation is in its early stages. We have detectives working hard to identify and catch those responsible. Anyone with information about suspicious activity around Jutland Street at the time should come forward. If you have CCTV or doorbell footage, please get in touch.”
Patrols in the area have been stepped up to reassure the community.
