Officers from the Medway Community Policing Team were responding to reports a car had been stolen in Maidstone Road, Chatham just before 2pm on Wednesday 2 March. After locating the vehicle it was pursued into Bexley where it then tried to ram a police vehicle. It eventually stopped and the driver allegedly tried to flee the scene, but was detained by officers from the Tactical Operations Unit. The vehicle was recovered along with personal items belonging to the victim. A 16-year-old boy from Chatham was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink/drugs, theft of a motor vehicle, failing to stop, dangerous driving and criminal damage. He remains in custody.
