Driver Deliberately drove car at cyclist in Southampton

Police are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was knocked off his bike by a car on Colewell Close, Southampton on Monday 22 May. The incident occurred just after 10pm. A 30-year-old man and a 32-year-old man were cycling together though Shirley Towers estate in the direction of Colewell Close when an old style silver Vauxhall Astra, with several people inside, began following them. The car is believed to have left the road over a grassed area onto Colewell Close and then deliberately made contact with one of the cyclists before leaving the scene at speed in the direction of Sedbergh Road. Police believe this was a deliberate act and as such are investigating the incident as a serious assault. Officers believe this silver Astra was seen in this area before 10pm travelling around without any lights on. It is described as old-style and having a loud exhaust.
