Firefighters are currently tackling a large blaze at a barn near Old Rides Farm on Leysdown Road in Eastchurch, Isle of Sheppey. The fire broke out around midday today, prompting a significant response from the Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS).
KFRS has dispatched eight fire engines and a bulk water carrier to the scene as crews work to bring the blaze under control. Smoke from the fire is reportedly visible from a considerable distance, and authorities are urging residents in the area to keep windows and doors closed as a precaution.
No injuries have been reported at this time, and the cause of the fire is not yet known. Firefighters are expected to remain on-site for several hours as they work to fully extinguish the flames and prevent further damage.
