Drug Den Shut Down in Snodland After Residents’ Complaints
Closure Order Hits Troubled Property
A Snodland home linked to ongoing drug problems and anti-social behaviour has been slapped with a three-month closure order. Kent Police secured the order at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court after local residents raised serious concerns about the property on Constitution Hill.
The ban kicks in from 19 June to 19 September 2020, making it illegal for anyone to enter the premises during this period.
Heavy Penalties for Trespassers
Anyone caught breaking into the property faces a hefty fine and could be jailed for up to 51 weeks. Officers have already cleared the property, ensured it’s locked up tight, and put a clear warning sign on the door to deter intruders.
Community Relief After Years of Misery
“Residents, including families with young kids, have suffered constant anti-social behaviour. Groups have been visiting all hours, with drug use, noise, and criminal activity running rampant,” said Insp. Jon Turtle of Tonbridge and Malling Community Safety Unit.
He added: “There’s been a surge in Class A drug supply and begging near local shops, making life miserable for everyone.”
PC Becky Ballard, who led the charge on the case, was praised for her hard work in gathering evidence. Insp. Turtle promised to continue cracking down on trouble hotspots.
“We’re committed to taking action and grateful for support from residents and partner agencies. We won’t hesitate to target other problem properties linked to anti-social behaviour or drug activity.”
